Recruitment is more than a job, it's a community where people and relationships take centre stage.
For Shi Hua, transitioning from the insurance industry to Robert Walters has been a game-changer. From day one, it's been more than a job – it's a community where people and relationships take center stage.
Shi Hua recounts her journey below.
My first couple of jobs after graduation had been in the insurance industry. Even then, I knew I thrive the most when I’m surrounded by the right people and resources. After close to 7 years, I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to find a place where I could go further with my work.
That search led me to Robert Walters. Though it was the strong brand name that first drew me in, it quickly became apparent in my interviews that this was an organisation that had people and relationships at its core. I could sense I was speaking to a team of highly motivated individuals.
When everything about a company calls out to you, taking the leap isn’t intimidating. It just makes sense. And it has been an amazing fit right from the start.
The training programme helped me to develop the mindset of a specialist recruiter, giving me a solid foundation to succeed in this new field. Over time, I also affirmed for myself that collaboration is truly our greatest strength at Robert Walters. Having been a part of the team for years now, I still show up to work every day inspired by my teammates. We celebrate and share our successes across the business, and we always push ourselves – and one another – to reach for the stars.
Some days are bound to be more challenging than others, so I’m proud that I’ve been able to stay focused on making a difference. I put a lot of faith in the value of our work. For example, what I do has changed and improved many people’s career paths; whereas with our clients, we’ve worked closely together to solve critical issues, develop hidden potential and unlock growth for their businesses.
I found more than a job here. This has been a supportive, tight knit community of colleagues, clients and candidates.
I’ve also reaped plenty of personal growth from this work: grit from sticking through tough times; strategic chops from crafting winning plans for my clients and candidates. Being a consultant means giving genuine, sincere advice to people and these conversations are not always easy. Learning how to do that has made me a more empathetic person.
Here at Robert Walters, I found more than a job. This has been a supportive, tight knit community of colleagues, clients and candidates. For that reason, I’m excited to see what the future holds – not just for me, but also for every single person who joins our team. As long as we have each other’s backs, I know there’s no limit to what we can accomplish together.
