For Allie, she was happy to have the guidance of a mentor to help her achieve her career goals and better understand her strengths and weaknesses. Now, a mentor and leader herself, she's enjoying being able to provide that same support to help her team realise their potential.

Allie recounts her journey below.

As I celebrate my 8th year with Robert Walters, I took some time to reflect on my career, and what got me started in the first place! I was drawn to Robert Walters' culture, the opportunities for growth and development and most importantly, I knew I wanted to work for a business which has its employees at its core. We are often reminded to put ourselves in the perspectives of our clients/ candidates/ colleagues, and that in itself has allowed us to build up a people centric business. It was clear to me that this is an organization I would like to build my career with.

I understand that changing job is a huge commitment, and a wrong step could sometimes be detrimental to one’s career. Similarly, for employers, hiring a wrong candidate would result in several repercussions and impact businesses in the long run. This is why when candidates/clients put their trust in us, we have to ensure that we do what is right and beneficial for them. Like many sales roles, it’s easy to be pressured and blinded by short term gains, but having an intrinsic motivation to do the right thing, and being with a company that supports doing so, makes me appreciate my job!

Looking back, I had the opportunity to hire across several functions throughout the years. I always had the support of my leaders to try out new things, upskill myself, and am grateful for being given the time and space to do so. 

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

 

This mantra has kept me going during the toughest of days, and trust me, there will be many tough days!
