Co-creating a global talent model with MUFG
The most effective talent strategies are shaped around the organisations they’re designed for. For a global organisation like MUFG, with 150,000 employees across 40 countries, that means balancing global ambition with the needs of its people, teams and local markets.
In a recent HR Chief feature, Beth Hoerle, Chief HR Officer at MUFG Americas, shares how HR at MUFG has evolved, from the importance of recognition and trust to its role as a strategic partner to the business. Today, part of that evolution is bringing global and regional teams closer together while enabling local teams to deliver effectively in their markets.
As recruitment had developed market by market, MUFG wanted a clearer, more consistent view of hiring across the group. It wasn’t looking for a ready-made outsourcing model. The priority was to co-create an approach that reflected how MUFG operates, bringing together regional perspectives within one global model.
Working closely with MUFG teams through workshops across regions, Robert Walters helped shape an approach that reflected existing ways of working, priorities and local market nuances, with talent partners embedded in the business from day one.
“The strength of this partnership comes from how it was built with our teams and embedded from day one, driving real change through global consistency while maintaining local relevance.” Jenny Buchbinder, Global Head of Talent Acquisition & Mobility, MUFG
This approach is helping MUFG bring greater consistency to hiring processes and reporting while retaining local knowledge across different markets. Importantly, the model continues to evolve alongside the organisation rather than being treated as a fixed solution.
“Our external partners have to be able to work at the same level of quality, the same speed and delivery as my own internal team. We’re not working in silos, we’re all One MUFG.” Beth Hoerle, Chief HR Officer, MUFG Americas
