AI Engineer (Gen AI & Agentic Systems)

We are partnering with an established organisation that is expanding its AI engineering capabilities and investing significantly in the development of next-generation Generative AI solutions. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will design and build production-ready AI applications across LLMs, RAG, AI agents, enterprise knowledge systems and intelligent workflow automation.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and develop production-grade LLM applications, RAG platforms, AI assistants and agentic AI solutions.

• Build intelligent AI agents capable of retrieving information, reasoning across different sources, calling tools and executing workflows.

• Develop capabilities around document ingestion, semantic search, retrieval, reranking, prompt orchestration, memory and tool calling.

• Integrate AI applications with enterprise systems, databases, APIs, document repositories and external services.

• Evaluate and implement suitable technologies across LLMs, embedding models, vector databases, knowledge graphs and agent frameworks.

• Develop evaluation frameworks to measure retrieval quality, response accuracy, hallucination, task completion, latency and reliability.

• Design secure AI application architectures incorporating access control, guardrails, permission-aware retrieval and monitoring.

• Own AI initiatives from use-case definition and architecture through development, testing, deployment and optimisation.

• Work closely with software engineering, cloud, data, security, product and business teams to bring AI solutions into production.

• Continuously improve AI applications based on system performance, evaluation results and user feedback.

What We’re Looking For

• Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Engineering or a related discipline.

• At least 2 years of relevant experience across Generative AI, LLM applications, RAG, NLP, information retrieval or AI application development.

• Strong programming capability in Python, with experience building maintainable applications or backend services.

• Hands-on experience working with LLM APIs and/or open-source language models.

• Experience in LangChain, LangGraph or similar AI frameworks.

• Familiarity with modern software engineering practices including Git, testing, CI/CD and containerisation.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
