A leading regional distributor of specialty chemicals, engineering plastics is seeking a Singapore based Senior Sales Manager to spearhead its expansion into the semiconductor and medical device industries. This newly created role offers you the unique opportunity to build new business from the ground up, develop strategic customer relationships, and play a pivotal part in driving the organisation’s next phase of growth across Southeast Asia. You will be empowered with significant autonomy to shape business strategy, work closely with global material suppliers and innovative manufacturing customers, and enjoy regional exposure as you help define the future direction of this well-established company. If you are passionate about technical sales and thrive in high-growth sectors, this is your chance to make a lasting impact while enjoying performance-based incentives and a supportive environment that values collaboration and professional development.

What you'll do:

As Senior Sales Manager, you will be entrusted with leading business development initiatives in high-growth sectors such as semiconductors and medical devices. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve crafting effective sales strategies that expand market presence while actively engaging with both new prospects and existing clients. You will focus on driving plastic raw material sales in Batam through regular customer interactions that foster long-term relationships. By serving as a vital link between customers and global suppliers, you will facilitate seamless communication around technical requirements and product specifications. Your role will also include collaborating with principals to uncover new applications for materials, providing technical-commercial support during sales cycles, coordinating internally for efficient order fulfilment, and staying informed about industry trends. Success in this position requires a proactive approach to building pipelines of opportunity, achieving revenue targets, preparing accurate forecasts, monitoring market activity, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction at every stage.

  • Develop comprehensive sales strategies aimed at expanding the company’s footprint within the semiconductor and medical device sectors by identifying key market opportunities.
  • Identify, prospect, and secure new customers while nurturing existing account relationships through regular engagement and collaborative business development activities.
  • Drive the growth of plastic raw material sales specifically to plastic moulders in Batam, Indonesia, by maintaining consistent customer contact and building trust-based partnerships.
  • Build and sustain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities to ensure sustainable revenue growth for the organisation across multiple industry verticals.
  • Serve as the primary commercial interface between customers and global principals or suppliers, facilitating clear communication and mutual understanding.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their technical requirements, product specifications, and qualification processes so you can deliver tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with principals to identify new application opportunities and introduce value-added material solutions that meet evolving customer needs.
  • Provide technical-commercial support throughout the sales cycle by offering product recommendations, conducting application discussions, and delivering engaging customer presentations.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment processes and consistently high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor industry developments, emerging technologies, competitor movements, and market trends within the semiconductor, medical device, and plastics sectors to identify new avenues for growth.

What you bring:

To excel as Senior Sales Manager in this organisation’s ambitious expansion plans into semiconductors and medical devices, you will bring a blend of technical qualifications—such as a degree in chemical engineering or related fields—and substantial experience in sales or business development across specialty chemicals or industrial raw materials. Your familiarity with selling into precision manufacturing environments will enable you to quickly establish credibility among target customers. Leveraging your established network within relevant industries allows you to open doors for new business while your strong technical aptitude helps bridge the gap between customer needs and commercial offerings. Your interpersonal skills—especially communication and relationship management—will be instrumental in fostering trust-based connections with both clients and suppliers. The ability to work collaboratively within teams while demonstrating self-motivation ensures you contribute positively toward communal goals. Regular travel across Southeast Asia reflects your dedication to supporting customers regionally. Staying attuned to industry shifts positions you as a knowledgeable resource capable of identifying fresh opportunities for growth.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Materials Science or a related technical discipline is required for this role.
  • At least five years of proven experience in sales or business development within specialty chemicals, engineering plastics, electronic materials, polymers, adhesives or industrial raw materials is essential.
  • Experience selling into semiconductor manufacturing companies, electronics firms, medical device organisations or precision manufacturing industries will be highly advantageous.
  • An established network within semiconductor manufacturers, medical device companies, precision engineering firms or plastic moulders is preferred for immediate impact.
  • Strong technical aptitude enabling you to translate complex customer requirements into practical commercial solutions that add value.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with negotiation expertise allow you to build trust-based relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Relationship management abilities are crucial for nurturing long-term partnerships with both customers and global suppliers.
  • Self-motivation paired with entrepreneurial spirit empowers you to develop new markets independently while remaining responsive to team goals.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to Batam as well as other regional locations demonstrates your commitment to supporting customers wherever they are located.
  • A keen awareness of industry developments ensures you stay ahead of emerging technologies and market trends relevant to your sector.
