What you'll do:

As Senior Manager Content and Editorial Strategy you will play a central role in shaping how the university communicates its story across digital platforms. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve developing coherent strategies that align with marketing objectives while ensuring editorial excellence in both English and Simplified Chinese. You will lead planning sessions for major campaigns and thought leadership initiatives—crafting narratives that build reputation among prospective students and stakeholders. Your expertise in the Chinese digital ecosystem will be crucial as you oversee original content creation tailored specifically for platforms like WeChat or Douyin. You will advise on cultural nuances to ensure messaging resonates authentically with target audiences. In addition to producing multimedia content adapted for various channels—including web articles, emails, social posts—you will provide expert copywriting support for campaigns. Engaging online communities forms another key aspect of your role: monitoring conversations across platforms; responding thoughtfully; escalating issues when needed. Analysing performance data will help you refine strategies further while mentoring junior staff ensures high editorial standards are maintained throughout all projects.   • Drive the development and execution of an audience-led content strategy across owned digital platforms, ensuring alignment with institutional marketing goals and brand positioning.
  • Lead editorial planning and governance for content hubs, campaign pages, and thought leadership pieces to maintain consistent narrative voice and high-quality storytelling in both English and Simplified Chinese.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and agency partners to create content that supports student acquisition, brand storytelling, and reputation-building across key markets.
  • Oversee the creation, adaptation, and governance of Chinese-language content across digital channels with deep understanding of platform conventions such as WeChat, Weibo, Xiaohongshu, Douyin, Bilibili, Zhihu, and Baidu.
  • Develop original Chinese-language content tailored to platform norms that resonates authentically with Chinese-speaking audiences throughout Singapore, China, and the broader region.
  • Advise on culturally appropriate messaging strategies for Chinese-speaking markets while reviewing all Chinese-language content produced by team members or external partners before publication.
  • Produce compelling short-form, long-form, and multimedia content for web, email, and social platforms in both languages while adapting messaging for channel-specific resonance.
  • Provide expert copywriting for campaign messaging including social captions, ad copy, email flows with clear calls-to-action maintaining brand alignment across languages.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop integrated campaign narratives translating institutional priorities into engaging content for student recruitment, programme launches, research visibility, and alumni engagement.
  • Engage online communities by responding to queries in both languages; monitor brand mentions; address emerging issues; escalate reputational risks when necessary; measure content effectiveness using analytics tools; develop dashboards; communicate insights; partner cross-functionally; mentor junior team members; engage external writers or agencies as needed.

You bring advanced proficiency in Simplified Chinese backed by hands-on experience producing original content that resonates authentically with local audiences rather than relying on translation alone. Your background includes significant exposure to platform conventions unique to China’s social landscape—from WeChat mini-programmes through Douyin videos—allowing you to tailor messaging effectively across channels. You have honed your writing/editing skills over several years crafting narratives that uphold institutional credibility while engaging diverse segments. Your analytical acumen enables you to assess campaign performance using sophisticated tools—translating data into actionable insights that optimise future strategies. Experience collaborating cross-functionally ensures you can manage complex workflows involving multiple teams/agencies/freelancers delivering timely results under tight deadlines. Whether guiding junior colleagues or engaging external partners your interpersonal skills foster trust/cooperation/support throughout every project cycle.

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Mass Communications, Marketing, Digital Media or related field is required for this position.
  • Effectively bilingual proficiency in Simplified Chinese equivalent to HSK Level 6 Business Chinese Test (BCT) Advanced or higher is mandatory with minimum three years’ hands-on experience creating editorial-quality content for Chinese-speaking audiences.
  • Minimum three years’ direct experience working within or targeting the Chinese digital market including familiarity with platform conventions such as WeChat official accounts/Moments/mini-programmes; Weibo; Xiaohongshu; Douyin; Bilibili; Zhihu; Baidu search behaviour.
  • Ability to adapt institutional tone into culturally authentic Chinese-language content suitable for student acquisition/research communication/employer engagement contexts.
  • Strong writing/editing skills across formats—blog articles/web copy/email campaigns/social media—with minimum five years’ proven experience crafting compelling narratives while maintaining brand voice credibility.
  • Experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics/Truescope/HubSpot/Emplifi (or equivalent) over three to five years assessing traffic/engagement/conversion metrics including platform-specific analytics for Chinese social media.
  • Hands-on experience creating/adapting content across web/email/social channels including LinkedIn/Instagram/YouTube/TikTok plus deep knowledge of the Chinese digital ecosystem over at least five years.
  • Direct lived/professional experience within mainland China or organisations actively targeting Chinese-speaking audiences strongly preferred.
  • Working understanding of platform trends/engagement formats/algorithm behaviour enabling optimisation of bilingual content for different devices/audiences.
  • Proven ability collaborating internally/externally managing workflows/timelines/multiple streams/campaign deadlines across languages/markets over five years.
