Founding GM – Private Members Club (UHNW)

A highly exclusive ultra-high-net-worth private members club backed by prominent Chinese owners is seeking a Founding General Manager to lead the launch, positioning, and day-to-day build-out of a new luxury lifestyle destination. This is a rare opportunity to shape the identity, culture, membership experience, and commercial direction of a next-generation private club catering to affluent and influential individuals across business, luxury, entertainment, and international circles

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in curating a world-class members ecosystem centered around luxury lifestyle, networking, entertainment, and bespoke experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Club Strategy & Business Direction

  • Work closely with ownership to define and execute the overall vision, positioning, and commercial direction of the club
  • Develop and curate the club’s lifestyle offerings, partnerships, programming, and member experiences
  • Build strategic relationships within luxury ecosystems (e.g. supercars, private aviation, fine dining, timepieces, premium spirits and cigars etc)
  • Identify new revenue streams, membership initiatives, and partnership opportunities

Membership & Community Building

  • Drive member acquisition, engagement, and retention strategies
  • Cultivate strong relationships with UHNW and influential members
  • Act as a key ambassador and face of the club
  • Curate a highly personalized, discreet, and elevated member experience
  • Foster a strong sense of exclusivity, prestige, and community within the club

Operations & Launch Management

  • Lead the pre-opening and launch phase of the club
  • Oversee daily operations during the initial start-up phase, including hands-on operational involvement
  • Build, hire, and lead the founding operations and membership team
  • Establish service standards, SOPs, and hospitality protocols aligned with luxury private club expectations
  • Ensure smooth coordination across hospitality, events, concierge, security, and member services

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison between ownership and operational teams
  • Work closely with Chinese stakeholders and management teams, including participation in overseas training and alignment initiatives
  • Manage external vendors, luxury partners, and key service providers

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience within luxury hospitality, private members clubs, luxury lifestyle brands, concierge services, or UHNW client environments
  • Strong understanding of luxury lifestyle ecosystems and affluent consumer behavior
  • Well-networked within luxury, entertainment, hospitality, automotive, or high society circles is highly advantageous
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and scale operations from the ground up
  • Highly polished interpersonal and communication skills with strong emotional intelligence
  • Comfortable operating in high-touch, relationship-driven environments
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, owner-led and evolving start-up environment
  • Mandarin language capability and familiarity with Chinese business culture will be highly preferred
  • Willingness to work operational hours during launch phase, including evenings and late nights
  • Willingness to travel and be based in Hangzhou, China for approximately 2 months during the training and onboarding phase

Additional Information

  • Initial operating hours during launch phase are expected to be approximately 5:00PM to 6:00AM, with transition into a more structured leadership schedule upon full team build-out
  • This role is best suited for individuals with a strong passion for luxury lifestyle, hospitality, social culture, and elite community building
