What you'll do:

As a Risk Associate in this leading quantitative trading environment based in Singapore, you will be entrusted with safeguarding the integrity of electronic trading operations through vigilant risk oversight.

  • Provide comprehensive risk oversight for electronic trading activities, ensuring that all market risks are identified, monitored, and controlled in real time across multiple strategies.
  • Assist the Regional Head of Risk and collaborate with the wider team to oversee daily trading operations, ensuring that potential risks in the production environment are promptly escalated and resolved.
  • Monitor electronic trading risks continuously by utilising advanced analytical tools and escalate any issues or anomalies swiftly to maintain robust risk controls.
  • Design, maintain, and review sophisticated risk limit frameworks as well as stress-testing methodologies to assess exposure under various market scenarios including dislocations and correlation shifts.
  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Core Engineering, Business Management, and Operations teams to address trading-related risk issues efficiently and collaboratively.
  • Provide governance across trade lifecycle events and new initiatives by identifying material risks early on, quantifying exposures accurately, escalating concerns appropriately, and supporting effective mitigation strategies.
  • Support enhancements to electronic trading risk controls by partnering with Risk Management and Technology teams to improve control design, monitoring systems, alerting mechanisms, and automation processes.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses such as stress tests, margin reviews, back-testing exercises, and scenario analyses to inform limit governance decisions and support senior risk forums.

What you bring:

To excel as a Risk Associate in this esteemed quantitative trading firm’s Singapore office, you will bring proven experience from similar roles where you have demonstrated both technical prowess and interpersonal sensitivity.

  • A strong academic background with at least a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, physics or another quantitative discipline; holding a master’s degree is highly regarded.
  • Between two to five years’ experience working in an electronic trading risk function within sell-side or buy-side institutions or proprietary/quantitative/digital asset environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgement when assessing complex portfolios while constructively challenging assumptions made by trading teams.
  • Proven experience collaborating effectively with colleagues from trading desks as well as business management, compliance functions, and technology groups within automated environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python programming coupled with solid SQL/database skills for data analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities combined with meticulous attention to detail when reviewing large datasets or designing new frameworks.
  • A proactive approach towards learning new concepts quickly while constructively questioning existing processes for continual improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling clear articulation of complex ideas across diverse audiences.
