What you'll do:

As an Operational Risk Manager, you will play an integral role in supporting the organisation’s commitment to effective risk oversight.

  • Assist in conducting comprehensive risk assessments across various business units to identify potential operational risks and ensure effective mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and other relevant metrics to provide timely insights into emerging risks and trends within the organisation.
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of detailed risk registers that capture all identified risks, controls, and mitigation actions.
  • Participate actively in risk control self-assessments (RCSAs), collaborating with stakeholders to evaluate existing controls and recommend enhancements.
  • Prepare regular operational risk reports for senior management, ensuring accurate documentation of incidents, near-misses, and mitigation activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date operational risk documentation and procedures, contributing to a culture of transparency and accountability within the team.
  • Track progress on risk mitigation activities by liaising with relevant departments and ensuring timely completion of agreed actions.
  • Support the creation and implementation of new policies and procedures aimed at strengthening the overall risk management framework.
  • Identify areas for process improvement by analysing current practices and recommending control enhancements that align with industry standards.
  • Collaborate closely with internal audit, compliance teams, and business units to provide guidance on best practices in operational risk management.

What you bring:

To excel as an Operational Risk Manager, your background should include proven experience within financial services—ideally gained through hands-on roles involving both risk assessment and audit functions.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Risk Management is required to demonstrate foundational knowledge essential for this role.
  • At least four years’ experience in risk management or audit ensures you bring practical understanding of industry expectations.
  • Experience working within an Asset Management business or function provides valuable context for managing complex operational risks.
  • Solid grasp of operational risk management principles and frameworks enables you to support effective implementation across the organisation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards ensures compliance is maintained at all times.
  • Strong analytical skills allow you to interpret data accurately and identify meaningful trends or anomalies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities enable you to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite supports efficient reporting and documentation tasks essential for this position.
  • Master’s degree in a related field would be advantageous but is not mandatory for consideration.
  • Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM or CISA are desirable as they reflect advanced expertise in risk management disciplines.
  • Experience using specialised risk management software tools enhances your ability to streamline processes effectively.
  • Knowledge of Basel framework regulations adds depth to your understanding of global best practices in operational risk oversight.
  • Project management experience is beneficial for coordinating cross-functional initiatives efficiently.
