The Sales Trader role involves delivering exceptional business development, relationship management, execution services, and risk management to high-value clients. The objective is to maximise client retention while driving business growth through referrals and networking. This position is part of a leading sales trading desk in Singapore's CFD retail derivatives industry.

Our client is a global financial institution providing online trading services in CFDs and other financial instruments. They are actively searching for a Sales Trader to join them and maintain strong relationship with their high net worth clients along with client acquisition activities.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow trading volumes among High Net Worth (HNW) retail clients and Accredited Investors.
  • Lead the sales trading proposition by collaborating with the sales team to enhance client acquisition, retention, and activity levels.
  • Proactively generate business opportunities through networking, referrals, seminars, and industry events, creating customised materials as needed.
  • Provide premium clients with high-quality relationship management to ensure a positive and tailored trading experience.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries, ensuring seamless onboarding and retention processes.
  • Identify opportunities to educate clients on products and services while continuously improving service offerings.
  • Maintain strong market knowledge to support execution trading and provide relevant insights to clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Trading, Business Operations) to optimise client experiences and platform enhancements.
  • Build strong client relationships through regular engagement, including participation in hospitality events outside standard working hours when necessary.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to meet revenue targets and contribute to business/marketing strategies.
  • Serve as an expert on products and platforms for both internal teams and external stakeholders, providing education and demonstrations as required.

Media & Compliance

  • Offer ad-hoc media commentary (written or verbal) for public relations purposes across various formats such as television, radio, or written publications.
  • Deliver insightful market commentary to promote services and enhance media presence.
  • Ensure adherence to local and global compliance guidelines, maintaining regulatory standards in all activities.
  • Participate in ongoing training related to regulatory requirements and legislative updates.
  • Uphold professionalism by ensuring all interactions with customers and colleagues are clear, fair, and consistent.
  • Safeguard confidentiality by complying with privacy regulations such as GDPR and other relevant frameworks.

Product Management

  • Act as a subject matter expert on products and platforms for both internal teams and external clients.
  • Competently demonstrate platform functionalities while educating clients on their use.


Requirements and key skills

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in derivatives or financial sales positions.
  • Proven track record in B2C and B2B business development activities.
  • Ability to bring an existing book of clients is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of global financial markets across various asset classes.
  • Excellent analytical skills coupled with problem-solving abilities and numeracy proficiency.
  • Effective communication skills for explaining complex financial concepts clearly in both written and verbal formats.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with confidence in telephone-based interactions.
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management capabilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to trade accurately on behalf of clients while adhering to best practices.
  • Familiarity with platform functionalities and phone dealing processes is desirable.
