A leading financial institution in Singapore is seeking a dedicated KYC Support Officer to join their Private Banking team. This permanent position offers you the opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless client onboarding and periodic reviews, while maintaining strict adherence to AML/CFT, Sanctions, and Tax regulatory requirements.

What you'll do:

As a KYC Support Officer, you will be responsible for facilitating the onboarding of new clients into the Private Banking division by ensuring all due diligence processes are meticulously executed.

  • Perform comprehensive Customer Due Diligence (CDD) for new accounts by conducting thorough background checks on prospects, verifying source of wealth information, and executing name screening processes.
  • Review and corroborate customer’s source of wealth (SOW) documentation submitted by Client Relationship Officers, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements as well as internal AML/CFT policies and procedures.
  • Support Front Office teams in preparing compliant-ready client profiles for both onboarding and periodic review purposes, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with Front Office stakeholders to address queries raised by Compliance regarding account opening submissions until final approval is granted.
  • Assist Front Office in reviewing name searches on prospect profiles, providing clear and compliant-quality dispositions of any name hits identified during the process.
  • Assess existing accounts by performing annual periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Provide general support on various onboarding-related tasks as assigned by management or senior colleagues within the department.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to maintain high standards of compliance and facilitate smooth client onboarding experiences.
  • Document findings accurately and maintain up-to-date records for audit purposes, contributing to the overall integrity of the client onboarding process.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions to stay current with regulatory changes and best practices related to KYC/AML functions.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the KYC Support Officer position brings substantial experience from previous roles involving client onboarding or KYC/AML functions within financial institutions. Your proven track record in Private Banking environments equips you with deep understanding of complex regulatory frameworks governing anti-money laundering practices. You possess advanced knowledge of local regulations such as MAS 626 as well as global standards relating to sanctions and tax due diligence. Your ability to build dependable relationships with Front Office stakeholders stems from your excellent inter-personal skills; you approach every interaction with empathy, patience, and professionalism. A tertiary qualification underpins your technical expertise while your meticulous nature ensures accuracy across all documentation tasks. You thrive when collaborating with others—sharing insights generously—and demonstrate responsiveness when addressing compliance queries or supporting colleagues. Your commitment to ongoing professional development means you remain knowledgeable about industry trends and regulatory updates.

  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in Client Onboarding, KYC, CDD or AML functions within a financial services environment is required for this role.
  • Proven AML experience specifically within Private Banking is essential for success in this position.
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, Sanctions protocols, and Tax due diligence requirements is necessary to fulfil daily responsibilities effectively.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills are needed to manage relationships with Front Office stakeholders in a considerate and collaborative manner.
  • Tertiary education in a relevant discipline such as finance, law or business administration is expected from applicants.
  • Meticulous attention to detail combined with analytical abilities enables you to work effectively alongside Front Office and Compliance teams.
  • Strong communication skills are vital for documenting findings clearly and responding sensitively to stakeholder queries.
