KYC AML Compliance (Corporate Banking)
A leading international bank in Singapore is seeking a KYC AML Compliance Officer to join their Corporate Banking team. What you'll do:
As a KYC AML Compliance Officer within the Corporate Banking division, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the organisation against financial crime risks.
- Monitor daily transaction alerts generated from AML systems, conduct thorough investigations into suspicious activities, and escalate or file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) when necessary.
- Review and disposition hits from name screening tools such as sanctions lists, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), and adverse media sources to ensure compliance with international sanctions regimes including OFAC, UN, and EU.
- Oversee client onboarding processes and periodic reviews to ensure proper Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for high-risk clients, including verification of source of wealth and funds.
- Prepare and validate client data related to FATCA and CRS for reporting purposes, ensuring data integrity and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Support the operation and enhancement of AML systems including transaction monitoring platforms and name screening tools to maintain robust compliance controls.
- Assist in the execution and periodic update of the Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA), contributing to risk identification and control evaluation across the organisation.
- Maintain and update AML/CFT policies and procedures in alignment with MAS Notice 626, head office standards, and evolving regulatory requirements.
- Draft and review internal AML frameworks, policies, and procedures to strengthen the organisation’s compliance posture.
- Support regulatory submissions by responding to queries from authorities, assisting in internal/external audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Provide advisory support on AML/CFT matters to business units including guidance on sanctions, CDD documentation requirements, control implementation, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Deliver AML/CFT training sessions and awareness programmes to staff across various functions to promote a culture of compliance.
- Stay abreast of regulatory developments in the AML/CFT landscape and assist in implementing necessary enhancements to internal controls.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by or in the absence of the Head or Deputy of Legal and Compliance Department.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the KYC AML Compliance (Corporate Banking) position brings substantial experience gained from working within banks or financial institutions.
- A degree holder with at least 4-6 years or more experience in KYC AML compliance within banks or financial institutions; experience spanning both private banking and/or corporate banking environments is highly desirable.
- Proven track record in transaction monitoring processes with hands-on experience investigating suspicious activities using advanced AML systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to collaborate effectively within teams while also engaging confidently with external stakeholders including regulators or auditors.
- Strong communication abilities in both English and Mandarin are essential for liaising with internal colleagues as well as external Chinese stakeholders.
- Demonstrated analytical skills allowing you to assess complex information quickly when reviewing alerts or conducting due diligence checks.
- Problem-solving capabilities that enable you to identify potential risks early on while proposing practical solutions for mitigation.
- Ability to work dependably both independently on assigned tasks as well as collaboratively within larger project teams across departments.
- Familiarity with international sanctions regimes such as OFAC/UN/EU plus experience handling PEPs/adverse media screenings is advantageous.
- Experience preparing regulatory reports under FATCA/CRS guidelines ensuring data accuracy throughout submission processes is preferred.
- Knowledge of MAS Notice 626 requirements alongside broader regulatory frameworks governing anti-money laundering practices within Singapore’s financial sector.
