Finance Business Partner/ Senior Finance BP
A leading organisation in the transportation sector is seeking a Senior Finance Business Partner to elevate its financial analysis and business-partnering capabilities. This role offers you the opportunity to work closely with commercial teams, senior management, and shareholders, providing critical insights that drive business performance and shape strategic decisions. You will be at the heart of translating complex financial information into clear, actionable recommendations.
What you'll do:
As a Senior Finance Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial direction of the organisation. Your daily responsibilities will involve deep-diving into financial performance across various business units and functions, uncovering key drivers behind results, spotting risks early on, and highlighting opportunities for improvement. You will review both financial statements and management accounting information to gain a comprehensive understanding of business performance. By translating complex data into clear insights for senior stakeholders—including management and shareholders—you will help guide critical decisions. Your expertise will be instrumental in evaluating the financial impact of new proposals or operational changes. In addition to supporting budgeting and forecasting processes through rigorous analysis of expenditure patterns and assumptions, you will assess actual spend versus budgeted figures to explain variances. Identifying cost-saving opportunities across areas like shipping or procurement-related logistics will be central to your remit. You will collaborate closely with commercial teams to align financial advice with business priorities while working alongside finance colleagues in Jakarta to ensure recommendations are implemented effectively. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Analyse financial performance across multiple business units and functions, identifying key drivers, trends, risks, and opportunities to inform strategic decisions.
- Review financial statements and management-accounting information to assess business performance and investigate items requiring further attention or clarification.
- Translate detailed financial data into concise insights and practical recommendations for senior stakeholders including management and shareholders.
- Evaluate the financial implications of business proposals and operational decisions to ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities by analysing expenditure patterns, business assumptions, and overall financial performance.
- Assess actual expenditure against budgets, explaining underlying drivers of variances to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency without compromising essential business requirements or operational effectiveness.
- Evaluate expenditure categories such as shipping, procurement-related logistics, and business travel to develop recommendations for potential savings.
- Work closely with commercial and sales teams to understand business priorities and provide tailored financial decision support.
- Collaborate with manager-level stakeholders in the finance team to obtain relevant information, understand operational context, and translate agreed recommendations into practical actions.
What you bring:
To excel as a Senior Finance Business Partner you will bring proven experience from roles such as FP&A;, commercial finance or similar analytical positions within sizeable organisations. Your background should demonstrate advanced analytical abilities—enabling you to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets—and a solid grasp of accounting fundamentals including interpreting both statutory accounts and management reports. Experience supporting budgeting cycles; forecasting exercises; and reviewing business performance is essential. You should be adept at evaluating cost-saving initiatives without losing sight of broader operational requirements. Communication is key: your ability to present findings clearly—whether engaging with senior leaders or collaborating with commercial teams—will set you apart. A proactive mindset coupled with meticulous attention to detail ensures you can distinguish significant issues from everyday fluctuations. Your seniority allows you not only independence but also the capacity for constructive collaboration when recommending process improvements or challenging assumptions. Above all; your interpersonal skills foster trust among colleagues across departments—making you a dependable partner who supports shared goals.
- Demonstrated experience in FP&A; finance business partnering; commercial finance; or a comparable analytical finance role within a large organisation.
- Strong financial-analysis skills enabling you to identify important insights within detailed financial information for effective decision support.
- A sound understanding of accounting fundamentals including interpretation of financial statements and management accounting principles.
- Experience supporting budgeting; forecasting; and conducting thorough business-performance reviews across multiple functions.
- The ability to evaluate cost-saving opportunities objectively while making commercially practical recommendations that balance operational needs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills allowing you to engage confidently with senior management; shareholders; commercial teams; and finance colleagues across locations.
- A proactive; detail-oriented approach combined with sound judgement for distinguishing material issues from routine fluctuations in financial data.
- Sufficient seniority; independence; and collaborative spirit to advise on finance-process improvements while constructively challenging existing approaches when necessary.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams fostering an inclusive environment where knowledge sharing is encouraged.
