"Creating pizza delight with the right talent for Yum!"

There’s more to pizza than just dough, cheese, sauce and toppings. It’s all about the experience – the joy of customising your perfect slice and digging into each warm, cheesy slice served just the way you like it. Pizza Hut, a beloved brand under the multinational food conglomerate Yum!, is all about creating that delightful experience. Sitting at the heart of it all is Anna Tee, a key player on the Pizza Hut Digital & Technology team.

Anna became a part of the Yum! family after Wendy Heng, Associate Director at Robert Walters Singapore, placed her into a role on the customer success team. “As a candidate, I had a wonderful experience with Robert Walters,” Anna relates.

“Wendy was very personable – we clicked almost instantly. She understood my interests and strengths and I could tell even then that our views on the hiring process were aligned.”


Two years later, Anna’s hard work earned her a promotion to the Head of Customer Success (APAC). She was still responsible for delivering top-notch customer experiences to pizza lovers and Pizza Hut franchisees, only now, her scope expanded to include the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions.

Now, Anna needed to assemble her own team to deliver the perfect pizza experience. Wendy came to her mind straight away. When it came to hiring, Anna had a different approach. Beyond technical skills, she was after a little something extra.

“I’m not only considering candidates with directly applicable experience, like having held the same role in a previous organisation or having the years of experience advertised,” Anna emphasises. “Cultural fit is key. Soft skills and ability to problem solve is a must. A recruiter must truly understand everyone – the candidates, the hiring manager and the organisation – to ensure it’s a harmonious fit for everybody involved.”

On top of digital skillsets, Anna needed someone with business proficiency in another third language – a rare skill set in Singapore. The role wasn’t an easy one to crack, but Wendy and the Robert Walters team was up for the challenge. It wasn’t just about finding a match to the skillsets; it was about discovering a spark that would elevate the team.

“Wendy goes beyond what’s on the CV and considers the candidate’s potential. She looks at whether there’s anything special the candidate can bring to the table,” Anna remarks. “I really like that approach to hiring.”

With Wendy’s help, Anna soon found the person for the job, ending her search on a successful note. “Leaving the hiring process to the hands of a true professional who shares my values was the right decision.”
