What you'll do:

As a Lead Specialist in Trade Operations, you will be entrusted with hybrid responsibilities spanning both portfolio specialist and trading support functions. Your day-to-day activities will involve close interaction with investment teams to prepare trade orders across equities, fixed income instruments, derivatives, and currencies. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all trades are accurately matched on execution day using industry-leading platforms. By collaborating with colleagues from various departments—including compliance and global investment support—you will help implement strategic improvements that enhance operational efficiency. Your ability to interpret complex client guidelines and adapt processes accordingly will be key to delivering exceptional service. In this role, you will also contribute your insights to technology projects aimed at streamlining workflows while deepening your understanding of diverse investment strategies. Your commitment to detail-oriented execution will underpin the smooth functioning of the entire trade lifecycle.

  • Utilise proprietary global modelling tools to create cash management equity program order baskets, facilitating cash movements and aligning portfolios with model funds or quantitative solutions as directed by portfolio managers.
  • Complete pre-trade workflows by creating and modifying orders within trading systems, navigating compliance reviews, and conducting thorough error checks to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist portfolio managers with order sizing and provide comprehensive support functions related to portfolio construction and order entry based on specific instructions.
  • Work closely with portfolio managers, analysts, and traders to monitor holdings and ensure precise implementation of investment strategies across various asset classes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including global investment support, compliance, and other departments to drive process enhancements for new account setup, transitions, security setup, and compliance rule tracking.
  • Deepen understanding of client guidelines, investment management constraints, compliance requirements, client flows, and quantitative factors to streamline portfolio construction processes.
  • Represent the portfolio management team on project groups focused on investment technology and operations improvements to enhance workflow efficiency.
  • Develop robust knowledge of investment strategies, trading patterns, styles, and portfolio workflows for designated teams to deliver tailored support.
  • Oversee daily trade date matching duties using platforms such as DTCC CTM to confirm all trading activity across equities, fixed income, and derivatives for straight-through processing.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required to support evolving business needs within the trade operations function.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience within financial services is essential for this position.
  • A minimum of 5-6 years’ hands-on experience in investment or trading operations is required to excel in this role.
  • Must be comfortable working shifts 6am-2.30pm or 7am-3.30pm (hybrid work arrangement)
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling equity securities as well as fixed income and derivative products is vital for success.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of equity security types enables effective support for complex portfolios.
  • Proven ability to efficiently utilise available resources while maintaining clear verbal and written communication with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills paired with creativity allow you to develop practical solutions tailored to business needs.
  • Experience working collaboratively within teams as well as independently ensures adaptability in demanding environments.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is necessary for accurate trade processing and compliance adherence.
  • Familiarity with electronic execution platforms such as Tradeweb, MarketAxess, Bloomberg EMSX, Virtu Wheel, FXALL or FXCONNECT is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of FX matching platforms like TradeNexus (GTSS) would be beneficial for broader coverage.
