Assistant Market Insights Manager

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Market Insights Manager to join a globally recognised organisation with a rich heritage and a portfolio of beloved brands. This role offers the chance to immerse yourself in a multicultural, inclusive environment where your analytical expertise and passion for consumer understanding will directly influence product innovation and market success.

What you'll do:

As an Assistant Market Insights Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of new product launches by delving into market data, extracting meaningful insights, and translating them into actionable recommendations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams—including laboratories, legal departments, raw material specialists, and external agencies—to ensure every aspect of product development is informed by robust research. You will be responsible for orchestrating end-to-end research projects: from drafting detailed briefs through managing operational logistics to synthesising findings into clear strategies for innovation. By engaging directly with consumers via focus groups or concept tests, you will help validate ideas before they reach the market. Your ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining meticulous attention to detail will be essential in delivering high-quality results that support business growth. Success in this position requires not only technical proficiency but also excellent interpersonal skills; you’ll need to foster strong relationships across departments while adapting quickly within a dynamic environment.

  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of current market trends using primary research data as well as syndicated sources such as Global Data, Euromonitor, Innova, and other reputable platforms to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Identify potential gaps or white spaces within key categories by assessing consumer needs and competitive landscapes, proposing differentiated product concepts that align with market opportunities.
  • Support the innovation pipeline by validating new product ideas through the execution of primary research initiatives including consumer focus groups and concept testing sessions.
  • Act as a gatekeeper for research projects by ensuring alignment between management objectives and research outcomes, collaborating closely with external agencies to deliver robust findings.
  • Develop detailed research briefs outlining objectives, background information, target audiences, sample sizes, timelines, and other critical parameters for each project.
  • Ensure seamless operational flow during testing phases by coordinating logistics and troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with laboratory teams to guarantee timely availability of product samples in designated test markets, facilitating efficient execution of research activities.
  • Manage the development of marketing mix elements for new products in partnership with internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring compliance with brand guidelines as well as food law and intellectual property regulations.
  • Create compelling new product concepts based on deep consumer insights, tailoring messaging to resonate with specific market segments.
  • Oversee packaging design processes to ensure all formats adhere to brand standards and category requirements while working alongside legal teams to validate claims and naming conventions.

What you bring:

To excel as an Assistant Market Insights Manager, your background should reflect hands-on experience in conducting sophisticated market analyses within FMCG or similar industries. Your proven track record demonstrates not only technical competence but also an empathetic approach when working collaboratively across diverse teams. You bring an inquisitive mindset—always eager to learn more about evolving consumer preferences—and possess the organisational acumen required for managing multiple concurrent projects without compromising quality. Your interpersonal strengths shine through when building rapport with colleagues from various disciplines; you are sensitive to different perspectives yet able to unite everyone around shared goals. Adaptability is key: you thrive amid change by integrating new knowledge rapidly into existing skillsets. Above all else, your dedication to delivering thoughtful insights ensures that every recommendation is grounded in genuine understanding of both consumers’ needs and broader market dynamics.

  • A university degree in Marketing, Business or a related field provides you with a solid academic foundation for this role.
  • Significant experience in marketing research or competitive analysis—ideally within the fast-moving consumer goods sector—enables you to navigate complex datasets confidently.
  • Advanced analytical abilities allow you to synthesise large volumes of information into clear insights that inform strategic decisions.
  • Proficiency in leading market research platforms such as Global Data, Euromonitor, Innova as well as familiarity with industry-standard methodologies ensures accuracy in your work.
  • A proactive approach combined with excellent problem-solving skills empowers you to anticipate challenges and propose effective solutions throughout project lifecycles.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills enable you to convey complex findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Excel and PowerPoint) along with SAP supports your ability to manage data efficiently and create impactful reports.
