SOC Analyst

An exciting SOC Analyst job opportunity has become available at a global IT service provider.

About the SOC Analyst Role:
This person will be working in a 24×7 IT Security Operation Centre (SOC) environment and is responsible for detecting, responding to and managing security incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify, quantify and track cyber security incidents
• Triage and manage information security events including, where necessary, participation in security incident management
• Respond to inbound Change Requests (CRs), Service Requests (SRs), Queries for handling Incident Management
• Provide Incident Response (IR) support when analysis confirms actionable incident
• Manage security administration and auditing of privileged systems access
• Provide threat and vulnerability analysis as well as security advisory services
• Analyse and respond to previously undisclosed software and hardware vulnerabilities
• Assist L1 SOC analysts to develop and improve their cybersecurity skills
• Assist Team Leads with reporting, projects, monthly SOC Reports specific to respective projects
• Review SOC Analyst ticket queue, review tickets, closure or reassignment as needed
• Maintain and track all information security related documentation to ensure they remain relevant, appropriate and up to date
• Handle SOC incoming phone calls and triaging phone calls that are not related to monitoring

To be successful in this role, you will need to have hands-on experience with either one of the following SIEM tools: QRadar, Sentinel or Splunk.

Key Requirements:

• Diploma/degree in computer science, cybersecurity, management information systems, or equivalent, with at least two years of experience in cybersecurity/SOC support
• Good hands-on experience with SIEM tools like QRadar, Sentinel or Splunk
• Networking such as TCP/IP, switching/routing and cybersecurity concepts
• Experience working with ITSM/Smart IT ticketing systems
• Security systems including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, endpoint security and vulnerability management software
• Knowledge of frameworks such as cyber kill chain and adversary tactics, techniques and procedures
