DevOps Production Support Engineer (6 Months, 100% Remote)
As a DevOps Production Support Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the stability and reliability of complex systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing production environments end-to-end—overseeing everything from resource allocation to deployment automation—while maintaining rigorous standards for documentation and compliance. You will serve as a crucial link between geographically dispersed engineering teams by providing responsive support.
What You'll Do
- Take full ownership of staging and production environments throughout their lifecycle, including daily operations management, resource scaling decisions, automated deployments, and thorough pre-release validation processes.
- Act as a dependable point of contact for production incidents by performing initial triage, executing mitigation actions such as degradation or rollback when necessary, and participating in comprehensive root cause analysis and post-mortem reviews.
- Participate actively in the on-call rotation to monitor real-time system health metrics, ensuring prompt response and escalation whenever anomalies or issues are detected within critical systems.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams based in different time zones to ensure smooth handovers, effective communication, and consistent support coverage during Asia business hours
- Utilise your technical skills to perform Linux command-line operations and shell scripting tasks that support automation initiatives and streamline routine maintenance activities.
- Conduct basic log analysis to identify critical errors from large volumes of logs, providing valuable insights for troubleshooting and ongoing system improvement.
- Support database operations by running SQL queries, clearing caches as needed, and assisting with other essential backend tasks that maintain optimal performance.
- Document technical issues clearly along with resolution processes so that knowledge is shared effectively across the team and future incidents can be resolved more efficiently.
What You'll Need
- More than 2 years' experience in production support, application support or software development
- Experienced in Linux Shell Scripting and SQL Scripting
- Experienced in managing and troubleshooting production support incidents
- Exposed to Cloud environment such as AWS/GCP
- Ability to converse in Mandarin as you will be the main liaison of the business to work closely with support team in China and with the Engineering team in US to support any production incidents.
