Software Engineering Lead

About the Role

This role sits within a technology team responsible for building and supporting mission-critical systems in a fast-paced Asset Management environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality software solutions, while providing technical leadership across projects.

You will be responsible for:

• Designing and developing scalable, mission-critical applications using Java and/or Python, with modern frontend development in Angular or React.
• Leading initiatives end-to-end, from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, and deployment.
• Working closely with business analysts, architects, and end users to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Evaluating existing systems and recommending technologies to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior developers, guiding design decisions and implementation best practices.
• Staying current with emerging technologies and contributing to the evaluation and adoption of new tools and platforms.
• Producing clear technical documentation to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge transfer.
• Acting as a project lead when required, managing priorities, communicating progress, and escalating risks or issues appropriately.
• Supporting multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining high delivery standards.
• Driving process improvement and standardization to enhance development efficiency and consistency.
• Providing production and operational support, including participation in on-call rotations.
• Serving as a technical advisor to other teams and supporting parallel development efforts.
• Designing and implementing database and data model changes as needed.

What We Are Looking For

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering with 7 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java and/or Python, with frontend experience using Angular or React.
• Experience working with multi-tier architectures and integrating with third-party systems.
• Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle and experience working closely with BA, QA, and business stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and data modeling.
• Experience working in CI/CD environments with automated builds and testing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to provide production support and participate in on-call rotations.
• Experience in financial services, trading platforms, or investment decision support systems is a plus.
