On behalf of their client, a globally recognised financial services firm offering a broad spectrum of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services, they are in search of a technically adept and enthusiastic Scala Developer. The successful candidate will join the Distributed Risk Storage team based in Singapore. This role presents an opportunity to engage with large data systems within an agile team across multiple time zones. The selected individual will have the privilege to lead various phases of the product lifecycle, propose enhancements to systems and processes, and work closely with other seasoned developers.

What you'll do:
As a Scala Developer, your role will be instrumental in constructing a custom data storage and processing platform to handle high-volume data sets. You will be tasked with storing, retrieving and processing billions of data points generated daily across tens of thousands of grid engines running within our own data centres and on public cloud providers. Your technical proficiency in Scala and Java will be crucial in meeting requirements around data encryption, entitlements, lineage, retention, volume and cost.
- Engage with new and existing components primarily using Scala and Java
- Lead various phases of the product lifecycle including analysis, development and testing
- Propose enhancements to our systems and processes
- Assume responsibility for certain areas of the project
- Work closely with other seasoned developers
- Understand ongoing requirements of clients and deliver superior solutions
What you bring:
As a Scala Developer, you bring a strong technical skill set, including proficiency in Scala, Java or other languages such as C++ or Python. Your strong problem-solving skills, analytical abilities and technical curiosity will be essential in this role. You have a good understanding of core computer science concepts and code optimization techniques. Prior experience in the financial industry is not required; however, comfort working with large enterprise systems is beneficial. Experience with Public Cloud and Kubernetes would be useful.
