Our client is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead their team in Singapore. This role focuses on people development and capability building in front-end (web & mobile) and back-end technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the operating model of the area and supporting capacity planning across teams. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the technology strategy, roadmap creation, and technology evaluations.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's technological landscape. You will establish a catalogue of user interface components, ensuring consistency across various platforms. Your expertise will be crucial in defining the technology strategy, creating microservices, reusable APIs, and integrating them across platforms. You will also provide valuable inputs in technology evaluations related to back-end development. Your leadership skills will shine as you oversee the execution of functional standards and best practices while inspiring and retaining talent within your team.

  • Establish a catalogue of user interface components and drive standardisation
  • Ensure consistency in design elements across different browsers, markets and devices
  • Define technology strategy & roadmap to create micro services, reusable APIs and its integration for platforms and applications
  • Provide inputs in technology evaluations related to back-end development
  • Establish a robust deployment topology to cater to critical non-functional requirements such as zero downtime, blue-green deployments, graceful degradation of services in the event of catastrophic failures
  • Oversee the execution of functional standards and best practices
  • Provide thought leadership on the craft, inspire and retain talents by developing and nurturing an extensive internal and external network of practitioners

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Senior Engineering Manager position brings a wealth of experience in backend development along with strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language. Your solid understanding of database management systems will be essential for this role. You will have proficiency in Swift and/or Objective-C programming languages with a deep understanding of iOS SDK, Kotlin (Android), and frameworks. Your experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs, familiarity with version control systems such as Git, Bitbucket and CI/CD platforms like ADO, Jenkins will be highly valued. Experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies is also required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 14+ years of experience in backend development with strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language and framework (e.g., Java/Spring, Python/Django)
  • Solid understanding of database management systems, including both SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Proficiency in Swift and/or Objective-C programming languages with a deep understanding of iOS SDK, Kotlin (Android), and frameworks
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, Bitbucket and CI/CD platforms like ADO, Jenkins
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
