Head of Quality Engineering

Our client is seeking a visionary and highly experienced Head of Quality Engineering to lead and elevate their quality assurance practices. This role offers the opportunity to oversee a team of QA Engineers and SDETs, and Engineering Managers, drive a culture of quality, and ensure the delivery of exceptional digital products and services. As a key member of the engineering leadership team, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners to establish and maintain robust quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle.

What you'll do:

As the Head of Quality Engineering, your role will be pivotal in shaping the future of our client's digital products. You will be responsible for providing strategic direction to a large team of QA Engineers and SDETs while fostering a culture that values quality above all else. Your expertise in developing comprehensive quality assurance strategies will be crucial in ensuring that our client's products meet industry best practices. You will also play an instrumental role in overseeing the design, development, and execution of test plans as well as driving the adoption of test automation tools. Your ability to identify, track, and resolve defects promptly will contribute significantly to maintaining high-quality standards.

• Provide strategic direction and vision for the Quality Engineering organization.
• Build and develop a high-performing team through mentorship, coaching, and performance management.
• Define and implement quality metrics, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to track and communicate quality performance.
• Develop comprehensive quality assurance strategies, processes, and methodologies that align with industry best practices.
• Oversee the design, development, and execution of test plans, test cases, and test automation frameworks.
• Ensure timely identification, tracking, and resolution of defects and quality issues.
• Partner closely with engineering, product management, and other stakeholders to integrate quality into every stage of the software development lifecycle.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends in quality engineering and test automation.

What you bring:

As the Head of Quality Engineering, you will bring a wealth of experience in quality engineering, with a proven track record in leadership roles. Your deep understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies, including Agile and DevOps, will be crucial to your success in this role. You will also possess expertise in test automation frameworks and tools, as well as a strong knowledge of programming languages. Your experience with performance testing, security testing, and other specialized testing areas will be highly valued. Additionally, your ability to build and lead high-performing teams, coupled with excellent communication skills and strategic thinking abilities, will set you apart.

• 10+ years experience in quality engineering with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large QA or SDET teams.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Deep understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies including Agile and DevOps.
• Expertise in test automation frameworks, tools, and practices (e.g., Appium, Selenium).
• Strong knowledge of programming languages and scripting.
• Experience with performance testing, security testing, and other specialized testing areas.
• Experience in manual to automated testing transformation
• Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication skills coupled with strong strategic thinking abilities.
