AI Engineer

A leading global financial institution is building out its AI Center of Excellence and is looking to hire an experienced AI Engineer (Generative AI) to support the design and delivery of enterprise-grade AI solutions. This role sits at the intersection of advanced AI engineering, data platforms, and business transformation, with a strong focus on taking Generative AI use cases from concept to production in a highly regulated environment. You will work closely with global business stakeholders, engineers, and governance teams to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant AI products.

About the Role

As an AI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying production-ready AI and Generative AI solutions across the organisation.

• Building and deploying LLM-powered applications, including AI agents, RAG pipelines, prompt frameworks, and multi-turn conversational systems.
• Leading the end-to-end lifecycle of AI solutions, from architecture design and development through to deployment, monitoring, and optimisation.
• Integrating AI products across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
• Partnering with business and technology teams globally to help shape AI and analytics roadmaps, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
• Ensuring all AI solutions adhere to enterprise governance, risk, and compliance standards, with appropriate controls, monitoring, and auditability.
• Contributing to best practices around model performance evaluation, observability, and operational excellence for AI systems.

What We’re Looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in a related discipline.
• Proven experience designing and developing LLM-based applications, AI agents, and RAG architectures.
• hands-on AI Engineer with strong experience building applied and production-grade AI systems, particularly in Generative AI.
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and Unix/Linux scripting.
• Experience with prompt design, model evaluation, tuning, and implementing retrieval, grounding, and safety layers.
• Solid understanding of data modelling, hybrid data architectures, and cloud-native platforms (e.g. AWS or equivalent).
• Experience developing APIs, microservices, and server-side AI components.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and automated deployment pipelines for AI systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Exposure to frontend frameworks (e.g. React) to support lightweight AI workflows is a plus.
• Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments (financial services is advantageous).
