As a Database Administrator (PostgreSQL/Sybase), you will be entrusted with the responsibility of managing, optimizing, and securing critical financial databases. Your focus will encompass performance tuning, security enforcement, disaster recovery planning, and regulatory compliance adherence. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining a resilient and efficient database infrastructure supporting our client’s financial services.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and Sybase database environments, ensuring their availability and reliability.
• Disaster Recovery Planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery plans and conduct periodic tests to ensure data recovery readiness
• Data Privacy and Encryption: Apply encryption techniques and data masking to protect sensitive financial information
• Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize for efficient and responsive banking applications
• Database Upgrades and Patches: Plan and execute database upgrades and patches to keep the environment up-to-date and secure
• Incident Management: Participate in incident response and resolution, troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues during critical situations
• Collaboration: Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure teams to optimize database integration and troubleshoot integration issues
• Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, changes, and procedures in alignment with internal policies and industry standards

To succeed in this role, you will require at least 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator (PostgreSQL/Sybase).

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on PostgreSQL and Sybase databases
• Strong proficiency in SQL and a deep understanding of database performance optimization techniques
• Familiarity with database security practices and data privacy regulations, particularly in the financial sector
• Experience in implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with diverse teams
• Knowledge of financial industry regulations and compliance standards
