About the Head of Engineering Role:
As the Head of Engineering/Software Product Architect, you will have a dual responsibility of leading the engineering team and shaping the product architecture to drive our technology strategy. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to develop and execute a product road-map aligned with business objectives. Your expertise in Java, Python, cloud technologies, and product development will be essential in delivering high-quality software solutions and driving innovation within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership and vision to the engineering team, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and refine the product roadmap, considering market trends, customer needs, and business priorities
• Design and architect software products, leveraging Java, Python, and cloud technologies to deliver scalable and reliable solutions
• Oversee the engineering team's design, development, testing, and maintenance efforts, ensuring adherence to architectural principles and coding standards
• Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the engineering team
• Manage and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities
• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in Java, Python, cloud technologies, and product development practices, applying them to drive technological advancements within the organisation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and sales, to define requirements and ensure successful product delivery
• Ensure adherence to security standards, data privacy regulations, and best practices in software engineering
• Monitor and analyse product performance and customer feedback, identifying opportunities for product enhancements and refinements

To succeed as the Head of Engineering, you will need to have around 10 years of experience.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Extensive experience in software engineering, with a strong background in Java and Python development
• Proven leadership experience in an engineering or product architecture role, including team management and technical strategy development
• In-depth knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with cloud-native architectures
• Strong understanding of financial services industry dynamics, regulations, and technology trends
• Demonstrated experience in delivering complex software products, with expertise in software architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies
• Familiarity with product development life-cycle and experience in defining and executing product roadmaps
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget
