A leading engineering equipment distributor is seeking a Sales Engineer. In this job, you will use your extensive knowledge of a company's products and the products' scientific processes to sell the company's complex scientific and technological products.
About the Sales Engineer Role:
In this Service Operations Manager position, you will be responsible for maintaining extensive knowledge of the products' parts, functions, and processes and assisting to close sales where technical expertise may be required to fit the clients' needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the formulation and implementation of strategic sales and marketing plans to develop and maintain existing business and penetrate new markets. This is to be achieved in close consultation with the management
- Work and present annual sales targets and budgets in conformance with the overall sales and marketing plan as directed by the Head of Sales
- Develop existing accounts assigned, and to secure new accounts for sales growth
- Prepare quotations and ensure a follow-up system is in place to win the sale
- Follow up with the necessary handover and support with the technical/project team to ensure successful delivery of the PO
- Seek reliable sources of suppliers for parts and equipment to ensure a consistent supply of quality products to meet the company’s technical and commercial requirements
- Conduct negotiations for the best possible deals and ensure the company is adequately protected against manufacturer’s defaults and identified risks
- Conduct periodic market research and analysis to determine market potential, competitor activity, and product strengths and weaknesses
To succeed in this Sales Engineer role, you should possess an in-depth knowledge of our company's technical products and services and you should be able to relate this knowledge in a way that is understandable to non-technical customers. You should be driven to achieve your sales goals and should have excellent sales and customer service skills.
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of four years of experience in technical sales within the power system industry
- A pro-active and resourceful individual with excellent negotiation, communication, and motivation skills
- Ability to communicate concisely, verbally, and in writing, in English
- Team player but also capable to work independently
- A good sense of time management and strong customer focus
