A leading global provider of fire protection solutions is seeking a Singapore based Regional Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth across the data centre and battery energy storage system (BESS) sectors throughout the Asia-Pacific region. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape the future of mission-critical digital infrastructure by aligning advanced fire detection and suppression technologies with evolving industry needs. You will be at the forefront of innovation, collaborating with engineering, sales, product management, and marketing teams to deliver tailored solutions that protect high-value assets. The organisation is renowned for its commitment to technical excellence, environmental responsibility, and customer satisfaction, providing a supportive environment where your expertise will directly influence product development and market expansion. Flexible working opportunities and a culture of knowledge sharing ensure you can thrive both professionally and personally while making a tangible impact on critical infrastructure safety.

What you'll do:

As a Regional Business Development Manager – Data Centres and Battery Energy Storage Systems you will play an instrumental role in driving business growth by developing robust strategies that respond to the unique demands of mission-critical infrastructure markets. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with diverse teams to ensure products meet stringent safety standards while addressing evolving technological challenges. You will leverage your deep understanding of fire suppression technologies to guide solution development for complex environments such as hyperscale data centres or utility-scale BESS deployments. By engaging directly with customers through technical presentations and executive briefings—and representing the company at industry events—you will help position the organisation as a thought leader in critical infrastructure protection. Your ability to interpret regulatory changes and environmental requirements will be essential in maintaining compliance while supporting sustainable innovation. Success in this role requires not only technical credibility but also strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork across departments.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive vertical market strategies for data centres and BESS across multiple countries in the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and emerging industry trends.
  • Act as the subject-matter authority for fire detection and suppression solutions, guiding internal teams on best practices for protecting digital infrastructure and energy storage assets.
  • Identify market drivers, competitive positioning, customer needs, and emerging risks such as thermal runaway events or lithium-ion battery hazards to inform go-to-market approaches.
  • Define strategies for clean agent, water-based, hybrid, and new suppression technologies tailored to specific use cases within data centres and BESS applications.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer to product management, engineering, and R&D teams by influencing product enhancements that address real-world challenges in white space areas, electrical rooms, UPS rooms, containerised BESS units, and more.
  • Support system architecture design including targeted delivery systems, selector valve arrangements, advanced delivery systems (ADS), and applications requiring high-ceiling or extended pipe runs.
  • Lead collaboration with sales teams to drive revenue growth through pipeline development, opportunity pursuit support (including hyperscale data centres), pricing strategies, value engineering input, and competitive differentiation.
  • Deliver technical presentations, executive-level solution reviews, customer briefings, and participate in industry conferences or webinars to enhance market presence.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of relevant codes (NFPA, FM Global, UL), local regulations (AHJ), environmental standards (HFC phase-down), and sustainability initiatives impacting product positioning.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts spanning engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain management, and internal training to ensure successful vertical execution.

What you bring:

To excel as a Regional Business Development Manager – Data Centres and Battery Energy Storage Systems you will bring extensive experience from within the fire protection or life safety sector—ideally gained through hands-on involvement with mission-critical environments like large-scale data centres or advanced BESS installations. Your background should include a solid grasp of both established suppression technologies (such as clean agents) and emerging alternatives designed for high-risk digital infrastructure. A track record of successfully navigating complex regulatory landscapes—while balancing environmental considerations—is essential. You are adept at building consensus among diverse stakeholders even when formal authority is limited; your interpersonal skills enable you to bridge gaps between technical experts and commercial teams seamlessly. Experience presenting at industry forums or delivering executive briefings will serve you well in this externally facing role. Above all else you are committed to delivering customer-focused solutions that advance both safety outcomes and business objectives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical) or related field is preferred; equivalent experience considered highly valuable.
  • 8–15+ years’ proven experience within fire suppression systems or life safety markets focused on mission-critical infrastructure such as data centres or battery energy storage systems.
  • Direct exposure to lithium-ion battery hazards or critical power environments is strongly preferred for this position.
  • Comprehensive understanding of clean agent systems (e.g., inert gas suppression), water-based solutions, hybrid technologies, and alternative suppression methods relevant to digital infrastructure protection.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority while leading cross-functional projects involving engineering, sales enablement, product management or marketing teams.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data centre operators as well as familiarity with containerised/utility-scale BESS deployments is advantageous.
  • Background working with FM Global insured facilities or performance-based design approaches adds significant value.
  • Proficiency in interpreting international codes (NFPA), insurance standards (FM Global), certification requirements (UL), local AHJ regulations as well as environmental/sustainability frameworks (HFC phase-down).
  • Exceptional communication skills suitable for executive-level presentations; ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Strategic thinking capabilities combined with strong market analysis skills; customer-centric approach to solution design; collaborative mindset fostering teamwork across functions.
