Global Freight and Logistics Manager

A renowned mining consumable company is recruiting for a Global Freight and Logistics Manager job to assist companies in planning and managing logistics, warehouse, transportation, and customer services. In this job, you will direct, optimise, and coordinate the full order cycle, and liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers.

About the Global Freight and Logistics Manager Role:
In this position, you will be responsible for organising and monitoring the storage and distribution of goods. The goal is to manage the entire order cycle to enhance business development and ensure sustainability and customer satisfaction. You will identify the most cost-efficient and effective freight and logistics service that leverages volume, demand planning, mill relationships, and market insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a freight and logistics strategy to supply raw materials across the footprint of the international operations
• Account for transportation spending associated with imported bar supply
• Manage all strategic supplier relationships including negotiations with carriers to obtain optimum rates and service
• Utilise knowledge in freight classification, routing, ports, rates, and claims management to deliver solutions to the business
• Lead the development of freight management processes including supplier selection, qualification and evaluation, statement of works, RFPs, contract negotiation, and management and performance review
• Develop models to evaluate supplier costing scenarios and options
• Oversee the execution of associated shipping documentation
• Drive continual cost reduction and avoidance initiatives

To succeed in this Global Freight and Logistics Manager role, you will need to have strong interpersonal communication skills along with a high level of management skills. You must be an efficient and skilled negotiator with the ability to think strategically and develop long-term roadmaps in support of business requirements and changing environments.

Key Requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in logistics or relevant discipline
• Minimum of eight years' work experience in logistics within the mining industry
• Proactive and independent in making decisions
• Good coordination and timely reporting skills
• Analytical mindset and organised work approach
• Excellent attention to detail
• Experience with Breakbulk or container cargo
