Capacity Management
SENIOR EXECUTIVE / SPECILIST CAPACITY MANAGEMENT Salary: $60,000 > $78,000 + bonus Location: Singapore
A leading international shipping company based in Singapore is seeking a Capacity Management professional to join their high-performing team. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to play a central part in optimising vessel utilisation and supporting network operations across key global trade lanes. With a focus on operational excellence and cost efficiency, you will be empowered to make a tangible impact on daily shipping activities while collaborating with agents, transhipment ports, and senior managers.
* Play a vital role in maximising vessel utilisation and minimising operational costs across an extensive liner network spanning Asia and major global trade routes.
* Gain hands-on experience with daily reporting, strategic cargo flow decisions, and direct coordination with agents and transhipment ports, positioning yourself for future leadership opportunities.
What you'll do:
You will immerse yourself in the heart of shipping operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around producing critical management reports, coordinating closely with agents and transhipment ports, analysing network data for optimisation opportunities, and supporting line managers with strategic recommendations. You will be entrusted with maintaining oversight of vessel capacity across multiple trade lanes while ensuring that every decision contributes towards cost-effective operations. By engaging directly with stakeholders at various levels—from agency offices to senior management—you will help shape the company’s approach to efficient cargo movement. Success in this role comes from your ability to balance meticulous attention to detail with big-picture thinking, ensuring that vessels are utilised efficiently while adapting quickly to changing market conditions or operational challenges.
* Prepare and deliver accurate daily bookings reports to headquarters in Singapore and Geneva, ensuring all agent forecasts and final loadings are verified within the I-Space system.
* Monitor allocation and diversion instructions from line managers, proactively following up with agents to guarantee timely updates in operational systems.
* Support network operations by simulating vessel connections and utilisation scenarios to inform contingency planning and omission strategies.
* Produce comprehensive daily executive summaries by liaising with agency offices on market trends, cargo volume projections, and providing actionable insights for decision-making.
* Develop and maintain detailed diagrams summarising vessel utilisation across all service strings to facilitate effective cargo diversions, rate actions, and service adjustments.
* Analyse overall network utilisation data to propose proactive diversion, connection, and optimisation plans that maximise efficiency on each string.
* Closely monitor cargo connections at six main transhipment ports, issuing clear instructions based on allocations set by line managers.
* Plan and coordinate cargo diversions and rollovers by directly instructing transhipment ports to ensure optimal vessel loading.
* Identify potential missed connections early while seeking opportunities to advance cargoes for improved vessel utilisation.
* Contribute to process improvements and participate in ad-hoc projects aimed at enhancing network capacity management and controlling operational costs.
What you bring:
* Degree or diploma holder in Maritime Transportation, Nautical Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain or related disciplines is highly preferred for this position.
* Possess 2–5+ years of relevant experience within the shipping industry focusing on capacity or slot management, vessel utilisation, network operations or liner trade functions.
* Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across teams as well as external partners such as agents and port authorities.
* Showcase excellent time-management abilities especially when working under pressure during peak periods or tight deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential for handling complex data analysis and reporting tasks required in this role.
* Display a collaborative mindset with a genuine belief in team-driven culture and cooperative approaches to problem-solving within fast-moving environments.
Do note that we will only be in touch if your application is shortlisted.
