A leading chemical storage company is seeking a Terminal Manager. In this job, you will lead, oversee and manage the company’s terminal operations and its employees to ensure the smooth running of the terminal operations and projects.
About the Terminal Manager Role:
In this Terminal Manager position, you will be accountable for the safety, financial, and service performance of the terminal. You will oversee and track the overall safety aspects of the operations and projects, by controlling the budget of operational, project costs, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead terminal management team consisting of operations, maintenance, projects, teams
- Account for all activities in the terminal
- Manage terminal operating/capex budgeting, scoping, and implementation
- Optimise terminal efficiency to drive productivity
- Facilitate and grow operations and maintenance capabilities (breadth and depth development of skills and knowledge of personnel) by ensuring the long-term development of personnel across the organisation to ensure optimal resource allocation
- Drive a proactive service and safety culture in the terminal
- Maintain high standards of terminal housekeeping, equipment, and facilities
- Ensure customer expectations and delivery are delivered and met with service excellence
- Drive SHEQ standards and proactive SHE culture in the terminal
- Ensure compliance of all terminal operations with company policies and governmental regulations
- Work on various continuous process improvement projects
To succeed in this Terminal Manager role, you will need to have strong interpersonal communication skills along with a high level of management skills to oversee the project, and committed to achieving efficient and safe operations in line with the company’s high level of technical standards.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in chemical engineering/mechanical engineering or related field of study
- Minimum of eight years of work experience in the port terminal environment
- Strong people-management skills
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies, i.e., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, TPM
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
- Open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
- Ability to look at situations from several points of view
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Good communicator and with strong people-management skills
