Trade Marketing Manager
A leading retail organisation is seeking a Trade Marketing Manager to champion in-store customer engagement and drive promotional excellence across an extensive network of over 120 stores.
What you'll do:
As Trade Marketing Manager, you will play an instrumental role in orchestrating the end-to-end delivery of trade marketing strategies that elevate both customer engagement and brand presence. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating with various departments to ensure every campaign is meticulously planned and executed—from initial concept through to post-campaign analysis. You will take ownership of all in-store communications, ensuring each touchpoint reflects the brand’s values while resonating with diverse customer segments. By supporting category-specific initiatives and overseeing visual merchandising standards during store refreshes or openings, you will help maintain a consistent yet innovative shopping experience. Your ability to analyse campaign performance data will be crucial in driving continuous improvement across all trade marketing activities. Ultimately, your success in this role will be measured by your capacity to foster collaboration among stakeholders while delivering impactful campaigns that contribute directly to business growth.
- Lead the strategic planning and flawless execution of a comprehensive 12-month promotion calendar, ensuring monthly and weekly campaigns are delivered on time and with maximum impact.
- Work collaboratively with Merchandising, Operations, and Marketing teams to coordinate timely rollout of promotions and ensure alignment across all functions.
- Monitor campaign performance rigorously, using data-driven insights to recommend improvements and optimise future trade marketing activities.
- Own all aspects of in-store communication by managing point-of-sale materials such as tourist picks, promotion liners, shelf talkers, stack posters, and other retail communication tools.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and brand alignment in every piece of customer-facing communication across all stores.
- Support category teams by translating health & pharmacist communications as well as beauty and personal care initiatives into compelling in-store touchpoints.
- Oversee visual merchandising standards for store refreshes and refits, partnering with Operations to audit execution quality and resolve any gaps promptly.
- Lead the marketing support for new store openings by developing opening kits, promotional materials, and tailored activation plans that create memorable launch experiences.
- Drive successful atrium and thematic activations by coordinating communication efforts across teams for seamless execution in high-traffic retail spaces.
What you bring:
To excel as Trade Marketing Manager, you will bring a wealth of hands-on experience from similar roles within the retail or FMCG sectors. Your academic background provides a solid foundation in marketing principles while your practical expertise ensures you can navigate the complexities of large-scale promotional planning. You possess an innate ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously—balancing meticulous attention to detail with big-picture thinking. Your interpersonal skills allow you to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels while building trust-based relationships with external partners. A passion for data empowers you to evaluate campaign effectiveness objectively; meanwhile your creative flair helps translate category priorities into engaging customer experiences. Above all else, your commitment to operational excellence ensures every initiative not only meets but exceeds expectations—making you an invaluable asset within any high-performing retail team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or a related field is required for this position.
- At least five years’ proven experience in trade or customer marketing within FMCG or retail environments is essential for success.
- Demonstrated understanding of retail operations including POSM production processes and visual merchandising best practices is highly valued.
- Exceptional project management abilities are necessary to juggle multiple concurrent campaigns without compromising quality or deadlines.
- Strong stakeholder management skills are needed to build effective relationships with internal teams such as merchandising, operations, partnerships as well as external agencies.
- A data-driven mindset enables you to interpret campaign results accurately and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital for presenting ideas clearly across different audiences.
