Operations Director
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Director to become the strategic right hand to the founders of a premium, high-growth sports academy in Singapore. This pivotal role is designed for someone who thrives on translating vision into reality, building robust systems, and nurturing a culture where excellence is the standard. As the Operations Director, you will be instrumental in scaling the business from one to multiple locations, ensuring every family experiences five-star service while supporting the founders’ focus on growth and innovation. The organisation offers a collaborative environment where your expertise in operational discipline, commercial stewardship, and team development will be highly valued. You will have the chance to shape the operational backbone of a leading sports institution, contribute to its expansion across Singapore, and work within a supportive team that values both precision and empathy.
What you'll do:
As Operations Director you will play an integral part in shaping the future of this premium sports academy by executing strategic initiatives that support rapid yet sustainable growth. Your day-to-day will involve collaborating closely with founders on high-level decisions while also rolling up your sleeves to implement scalable systems that underpin operational excellence. You will oversee financial performance with meticulous attention to detail—ensuring budgets are met and profitability targets achieved—while optimising space utilisation through data-driven analysis. Building a dependable team will be central to your success; you’ll recruit top talent across operations functions, mentor them towards clear career pathways, and foster an environment where accountability is balanced with support. By designing robust processes for everything from class scheduling to vendor management—and standardising these across all sites—you’ll ensure brand consistency as the academy expands. Your ability to handle sensitive escalations with empathy will reinforce trust among families while your commitment to continuous improvement sets new benchmarks for service delivery. Ultimately, your efforts will empower coaches to focus on athlete development while you create an infrastructure that supports both current excellence and future ambitions.
- Serve as the strategic co-pilot to the founders by translating their vision into actionable plans, proactively identifying risks before they arise, and ensuring smooth organisational operations so leadership can prioritise growth.
- Develop and own the operational blueprint for scaling from one to three locations, including supporting site selection, coordinating fit-outs, and replicating standard operating procedures across new sites.
- Collaborate closely with leadership on strategic projects such as pricing optimisation, launching new revenue streams like camps or events, and planning long-term capacity needs.
- Take full ownership of operational profit and loss responsibilities; set budgets with leadership, monitor unit economics, and drive profitability through careful financial stewardship.
- Optimise revenue per square foot by analysing class utilisation rates, programming mix effectiveness, and pricing elasticity to maximise returns across 20,000 sq. ft. of floor space.
- Oversee financial controls including invoicing, payroll governance, audit coordination, and ensure investment readiness at all times through rigorous reporting dashboards.
- Build and lead a high-performing operations team encompassing customer experience, human resources, administration, and accounting functions while instilling a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
- Design systems and processes that enable seamless daily operations without requiring constant founder involvement—covering areas such as class scheduling, facility procurement and maintenance, staff rostering, and payroll management.
- Standardise operating procedures across all functions to uphold compliance with safety regulations and maintain consistently high service standards throughout every location.
- Handle complex parent escalations with diplomacy and empathy to guarantee every family receives fair treatment.
What you bring:
To excel as Operations Director you will bring extensive experience managing complex operations at scale—ideally within sectors renowned for their premium service expectations such as fitness clubs or luxury hospitality venues. Your background includes not only overseeing multi-site businesses but also working closely with visionary leaders whose trust you’ve earned through reliability and discretion. Commercial acumen is second nature; you understand how each operational decision impacts overall profitability and can confidently model financial outcomes when exploring new opportunities. Your approach balances analytical rigour with emotional intelligence: whether optimising resource allocation or resolving sensitive client issues diplomatically. You thrive in environments where feedback is welcomed as part of continuous improvement—and you inspire those around you by setting clear expectations paired with genuine support. Building teams comes naturally; you know how to attract top performers then nurture their growth through structured mentoring programmes. Above all else your passion lies in creating systems that endure—enabling consistent delivery of five-star experiences even as the organisation scales rapidly.
- A minimum of eight years’ experience in large-scale operations management with at least three years spent in senior leadership roles overseeing multi-site businesses generating over $10M in annual revenue.
- Demonstrated success in premium fitness, hospitality, retail or education environments where uncompromising service standards are essential for reputation and growth.
- Proven track record as a trusted partner to demanding leaders—anticipating needs before they are articulated through sound judgement, speed of execution, and utmost discretion.
- Deep commercial fluency including mastery of profit-and-loss statements, unit economics analysis, pricing strategy formulation, and understanding how operational choices impact both top- and bottom-line results.
- Experience modelling return-on-investment scenarios for new programmes or pricing changes using advanced analytical skills.
- Resilience under pressure combined with openness to feedback; you move thoughtfully while holding yourself—and others—to impeccable standards of performance.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling you to manage relationships with high-net-worth clients diplomatically while also building enduring systems behind the scenes.
- Expertise in designing scalable processes that allow organisations to grow without sacrificing quality or consistency across multiple locations.
- Ability to foster a disciplined yet supportive team culture where staff feel empowered to excel in their roles while being held accountable for outcomes.
- Commitment to upholding compliance with safety regulations alongside maintaining consistently high levels of customer satisfaction.
