VP Operational Risk

An exciting VP Operational Risk job has just become available at a reputable financial firm. In this role, you will primarily focus on operational risk and enterprise risk management for APAC, covering Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia branches.

About the VP Operational Risk Role:
In this role, you will oversee all operational risks that arise across business and support functions in Asia Pacific as well as support CRO in running international risk management projects related to operational risk/risk governance framework.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide continuous monitoring and independent assessment of the firm’s operational risk profiles and material exposures, and provide regular reporting and prompt escalation to senior management and the board
• Undertake scenario analysis, facilitate operational risk self-assessment workshops and review of new product and complex transactions approval process
• Conduct control testing to verify effectiveness of the risk measures identified through the risks and controls self-assessment process
• Oversee and manage the operational risk processes and initiate changes where required
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures to support the Enterprise Risk Management Framework
• Develop and maintain the firm’s Risk Appetite Statement, and produce the dashboard to provide a taxonomy of risks faced by the firm and monitor the adherence to risk appetite
• Maintain communication with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across group entities in various locations to promote and support international alignment of risk approaches and appetite
• Communicate regularly with Auditors and Regulators, good understanding of regulatory requirement in terms of operational risk management to ensure compliance to local regulations

To succeed in this VP Operational Risk role, you must have at least 10 years of operational and enterprise risk management experience in addition to experience dealing with senior business leaders and other senior stakeholders

Key Requirements:

• Experience working in international securities firm of multiple jurisdictions with good understanding of trading systems and booking process is an advantage
• Direct experience of process implementation to manage or mitigate operational risk
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as leadership skills
• Knowledge of markets and financial products across various assets classes (mainly fixed income and credit products)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present risk analysis in a clear and concise manner
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
• Fluency in English with another Asian language is an advantage
