Our client, a leading global long-term investor with a broad private equity programme, is seeking a Private Equity Associate to join their Direct Investments team in Singapore. This role offers an extraordinary opportunity to work within an international network of industry leaders, investing across asset classes and businesses in over 40 countries globally.

The successful candidate will primarily focus on investments in Developed Asia, particularly Japan and Korea. This role provides the chance to be part of special projects within the firm and contribute to Singapore’s financial future and the communities they invest in worldwide.

What you'll do:

As a Private Equity Associate, your role will be pivotal in shaping the investment landscape across Developed Asia. You will be involved in evaluating private investments, assisting in the execution of attractive investment opportunities, and participating in due diligence processes. Your ability to interact effectively with management and other investors will be crucial as you attend board meetings and work on strategic initiatives within portfolio companies. Reporting directly to the Head of the Direct Investments Group, you will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to the team's success.

  • Evaluate private investments in minority equity, growth capital, buyouts and structured transactions.
  • Assist in reviewing, assessing, and executing attractive investment opportunities efficiently and expeditiously.
  • Participate in due diligence processes, pricing, deal structuring, negotiations and legal workstreams.
  • Attend board meetings and interact with management and other investors regularly.
  • Work on ongoing strategic initiatives in portfolio companies and develop exit plans.
  • Report to the Head of the Direct Investments Group (Developed & Southeast Asia).

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Private Equity Associate role brings a wealth of experience from a top-tier investment bank or private equity fund. You possess strong commercial judgement and have proven experience in deal execution, diligence, and closing direct investments. Your ability to oversee various counterparties demonstrates your excellent interpersonal skills. With strong written communication skills, you are able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Your experience working on private market transactions in Japan and Korea jurisdictions sets you apart from others.

  • At least 1-4 years' of work experience in a top-tier investment bank or private equity fund.
  • Strong commercial judgement and experience in deal execution, diligence and closing in direct investments.
  • Ability to oversee and work with various counterparties including internal teams (finance, tax, legal, compliance etc.), external advisors and portfolio companies.
  • Strong written and communication skills; good organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Experience working on private market transactions in Japan and Korea.
  • We seek Japanese and Korean-speaking candidates who are required to serve Japanese and Korean-speaking clients as part of this role.
