Our client is seeking a Surveillance Analyst for a 12-month contract based in Singapore. This role is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Business Unit Risk Management team within the Asia Private Wealth Management business.

The successful candidate will primarily oversee, monitor, measure and analyse non-market risk exposure for the Singapore branch. This role offers the chance to work with a diverse team and contribute to important projects aimed at streamlining processes and enhancing systems.

What you'll do:

As a Surveillance Analyst, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our client's operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include performing detailed supervisory and trade-based surveillance reviews, ensuring strict adherence to firm's policies and procedures. You will also manage outsourced surveillance teams, providing quality assurance checks to meet performance criteria. Your keen eye will be essential in identifying internal breaches or control gaps, conducting necessary investigations when required. In addition, you will collaborate with various departments such as Legal and Compliance to establish robust risk and control frameworks. Your contribution will also extend to participating in ongoing projects aimed at streamlining processes and enhancing systems for efficient risk management. Lastly, your analytical skills will be put to use as you analyse reports, perform trend analysis, prepare comprehensive reports for senior management, and escalate any issues found during your surveillance review.

  • Monitor and identify internal breaches/control gaps and conduct necessary investigations
  • Partner with the business and control partners such as Legal and Compliance to establish risk and control frameworks
  • Participate in ongoing projects to streamline processes including system enhancement
  • Analyse reports and perform trend analysis in assessing the risk of the business
  • Prepare reports to senior management and escalate any issues found during surveillance review

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Surveillance Analyst role will bring a wealth of experience from the private banking industry, specifically in a first line of defence role. You will have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of relevant working experience. Your language skills will include fluency in English and Mandarin, with Cantonese being an added advantage as you will need to liaise with Hong Kong counterparts. A keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills are essential for this role. Prior experience in a similar control function in Risk or Compliance is highly desirable, as is knowledge around regulatory requirements from HKMA, SFC and MAS perspective. Finally, you will have product knowledge of various asset-classes including equity, fixed income, listed and OTC derivatives and banking products.

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant working experience in the private banking industry as first line of defence
