About the Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager Role:
Reporting to the Tax Director, the Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager plays a critical role in the business. The primary responsibility of Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager is to assist Group Tax Head with the planning, advisory, compliance and audit defence for tax-related projects in South East Asia and other jurisdictions where group business operates or will expand.

Key Responsibilities:

• Being the business partner, work closely with the business development and school development teams to deeply involved in group’s business development projects
• Be the key driver for tax due diligence to identify the tax risks and exposure
• Lead the deal structure study to propose the proper structure
• Work together with legal team for market entry feasibility studies
• Work with the BD team and legal team to negotiate with tax covenant in commercial agreements
• Proactively solve problems to ensure the smooth handover of projects
• Manage the direct/indirect tax compliance matters for SG companies and overseas schools and companies and streamline tax filing process to improve efficiency and productivity
• Work with tax consultants to prepare documents and reports to meet TP compliance requirements and filings in the South East Asia region
• Provide professional tax advice to cross-functional teams and implement workable tax solutions/initiatives
• Keep abreast of the tax regulations development in South-East Asia Region, provide the professional tax opinion about the impacts to group business
• Be the regional driver of direct tax engagements, day to day relationship management with external tax consultant and collaboration with internal team members to deliver the timely support to different functions and projects

To succeed in this Tax Manager/Senior Tax Manager role, you will need a broad knowledge and experience base with a particular focus on international tax (M&A and transfer pricing), as well as tax compliance and tax reporting in the APAC region.

Key Requirements:

• 9 - 12 years’ experience in the areas of corporate tax and international tax from Big 4/industry or a combination of both. Real M&A experience in the South East Asia regional exposure is a plus but not a must
• Experience in M&A and tax advisory to transaction service is a must
• Proficiency in Chinese and English language, as the candidate is required to work with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders
• Experience in SAP (or equivalent ERP system) is preferred
• Good organisational skills, highly detail-oriented and ability to work with minimal supervision and independently
• Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment and a multitasker
• Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment
