A Tax Manager, South Asia (ETW) job has become available at a sports company. You will be responsible for leading tax compliance, tax advisory, transfer pricing, tax audit management and implementation of tax strategy for Southeast Asia and India.

About the Tax Manager, South Asia (ETW) Role:
In this role, you will work closely with the regional and country accounting teams in the region, outside advisers and global tax team in WHQ. You must have strong technical knowledge and experience in direct tax, indirect tax and transfer pricing regulation as well as tax dispute management and possess strong interpersonal communication skills. You will report to the Director, Asia Pacific Tax and should closely work and collaborate with global/regional/country functional teams (finance/legal/treasury/business, etc.) of entities in Southeast Asia and India and external tax advisers in the region and global tax team in WHQ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review tax financial reporting for local GAAP/U.S. GAAP purpose, transfer price documentation, intercompany agreements and facilitating the regional/country accounting team to conduct routine tax health check programmes
  • Support the Director, Asia Pacific Tax in tax compliance, tax advisory (both direct tax and indirect tax), transfer pricing, tax audit management, tax dispute management and implementation of tax strategy
  • Manage external tax consultants to address tax needs
  • Build and foster strong relationships between tax and global/regional/country functional teams (finance/legal/treasury/business, etc.) and provide tax relevant and timely tax advice

To succeed in this Tax Manager, South Asia (ETW) role, you must have a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or the equivalent - preferably with CPA designation. Other qualifications like MBA and/or a degree in tax law is a plus.

Key Requirements:

  • At least six to eight years of relevant experience, preferably a combination of Big 4 (PwC/KPMG/E&Y/D&T) and commercial work experience
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in direct and indirect tax and transfer pricing regulations for Southeast Asia and India. Experience and familiarity with regional tax dispute management is an advantage
  • Regional experience in a US multinational company with knowledge of tax accounting (US GAAP) and customs is an advantage
  • Highly motivated and independent
  • Effective team player - hands-on and good at working in a dynamic business environment and with cross-function capabilities
  • Ability to work independently, hands-on and yet strong team player as well: you successfully lead aspects of complex, milestone driven projects – including working effectively across cross-functional teams and in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent communication skills: good level of English (both written and verbal) to communicate complex tax concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals and all levels of management
  • Organised, critical, accountable pragmatist that pays good attention to detail and stakeholders: you take ownership of projects, possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and deliver on tight deadlines
  • Proven track record in successful delivery of key initiatives
