RSA is a major international insurance firm with over a 300 hundred years experience servicing consumer & commercial clients. Asia is growing rapidly and to support this growth a new role has been created to work strategically with the CEO to provide solid legal judgement. The regional coverage will be Asia Pacific and the Middle East which comprises nine offices and growing.

Responsibilities:

• ensure the legal, risk and regulatory compliance aspects of corporate transactions and/or restructuring exercises are managed correctly; up to and including leading negotiations, co-ordinating the provision of external advice, ensuring compliance with relevant legal and Stock Exchange rules and Group L&CS requirements
• manage disputes and issues of litigation to ensure Group/regional/local business interests are protected and potential loss and damages are mitigated
• monitor legal and regulatory developments, assessing the likely business impact and/or making representations or contributing to consultative exercises
• lead and develop the overall relationship between the regulators, and the AME businesses so as to ensure consistent and appropriate representation at all levels
• manage relationships with other legal, risk & compliance and company secretarial colleagues to contribute to and implement Group initiatives, share best practice and enable effective communication and understanding of global/regional legal, risk and compliance issues
• procure and manage key external relationships to ensure quality of service and value, e.g. legal firms and ensure consistency with Group L&SC criteria for the use of external advisers

Requirements:

• minimum of seven years’ PQE within a common law jurisdiction
• extensive experience in commercial and/or corporate law
• experience of working in and/or with financial services businesses
• experience of working effectively across multi-cultural and geographic boundaries
• manage regulatory compliance in a multi-national, financial services business
• manage and assess the impact of regulatory issues
• deal with regulatory bodies at the highest levels
