Responsibilities:
Work as part of a team and supporting the Directors to achieve the growth objectives of the Group through strategic investment activities
Work as part of a team and supporting the Directors to maximise the value of the Groups assets through divestments where opportunity arises and greater value can be extracted through divestment
Investment/divestment activities include:-
- Conducting preliminary assessment on investment opportunities as and when they arise
- Providing advice and recommendations to management on opportunities including strategic rationale, valuation, deal structure and risks
- Project manage a cross-functional team of subject matter experts in participating in or conducting sales process, valuation, business assessment and due diligence effectively and efficiently
- Negotiate terms and conditions with prospective sellers or partners or buyers in the best interest of the Group including ensuring appropriate level of corporate governance and safeguards against material loss of investment value are in place.
Proactively monitor opportunities and keeping abreast of the telecommunication market in specific target countries or companies, including research, physical visits and study tours. Travelling will be required.
Maintain good relationships with external parties for the purposes of achieving the objectives e.g. with prospective partners, sellers or buyers, government officials, investment bankers and financial advisors.
Requirements:
Degree in Engineering, Business or Finance and with strong analytical and financial skills
Good to have MBA or equivalent post graduate degree, Chartered Accountancy or CPA, AIMR qualification
Experience in commercial and financial evaluation of companies and new business opportunities, and/or start-ups including conducting DCF valuations and financial modelling.
At least 5 years of working experience with 3 years of relevant M&A experience.
Sound business and commercial acumen
Knowledge of operational aspects of telecom business and the competitive and regulatory environment in the region is preferable.
Strong project management or organizational skill with proven track record in leading or managing cross-functional projects
Strong negotiation skills with experience negotiating contracts and other legal agreements would be a plus.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
An independent contributor who is also a good team player with ability to work across all levels of management, with a strong sense of commitment and ownership
Adaptability and flexibility
Attention to details and an inquisitive mind.
Willingness to travel at short notice and to emerging economies.
